Spring Break

This last week has been Spring Break for the kids. I have never had a more relaxed week- we slept in, ordered food, played "Don't break the ice" 800 times (and btw- why does it take longer to set that game up than the actual playing of the game?) had a fabulous ham dinner for Easter after mass- complete with a lemon cake the kids ADORED, and had two fun Easter egg hunts.

I even attempted to make homemade peanut butter play dough- EPIC FAIL. Ethan was all- "Mom, this does not look or feel like play dough...AT ALL!" The recipe called for dry milk- and for the price of that stuff, I could've bought 200 tubs of regular play dough! Oh well, points for good intentions...right?

We played outside 95% of the day- seriously- we didn't come inside until around 10:00pm! It was beautiful...we even got in some sprinkler playin'- my kids favorite summertime activity. Such a great week...it makes me long for summertime!

seeing green

The past couple days have been saturated with GREEN. I usually love green, but after this weekend, I'm willing to date another favorite color for awhile.

We celebrated Max's 3rd birthday on Monday. I can't believe THREE years have gone by in the blink of an eye. Mr. Max decided he wanted a "green" party....no theme...just GREEN. I hopped on board and ran with it. I even made a green cake, complete with green lizards on top! The party was a success, and we had some great friends to celebrate with.

My other dose of green was not so cheery. I think the pictures sum it up.

Wordless Wednesday

While Mark and Adelle were out partying last Saturday, I spent the evening with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. My two favorite little robots.

Saturday with Daddy....

This morning Mark decided he wanted to go look at a new vehicle- namely a new truck. He decided this would be the perfect opportunity to do some "man-bonding" with Ethan. So I packed Ethan a bag, and off they went. This man excursion lasted all morning, and included a trip to Wal-Mart, McDonalds, and Jiffy Lube.
Now EVERY time Mark takes one of the kids somewhere alone, "they" decide to bring me flowers. This has been a tradition that I am so happy Mark started; while it is fun for the kids, he is inadvertently teaching them to value their future wives. He is such a great Daddy! Ethan was beaming when he came in with the flowers, and he also showed off his new tattoo. (Just like Daddy's)
While they did not come home with a truck...much was accomplished this morning.

The man of the house....

Before this blog, I should preface by saying that in our house we have an imaginary bear. Sometimes we play "hide from the bear"; the kids hide, I sneak up, growl ferociously, and scare the living daylights out of them. I know....this is probably going to cost them hundreds in psychotherapy later in life, but it's family fun. Well today, we were playing "HFTB" and I was "hiding" under-covers with the boys. I decided to kick it up a notch and said to Ethan, "What if I went out, and the bear ate me and sissy (who was refusing to play because Jonas was on), WHAT would you do?" Without missing a beat he says, "Easy day Mom, I would get Dad's sword and my suction cups and climb up the wall and ninja that bear sushi style." We can all sleep safely knowing we are well protected from imaginary wild animals.
